Trade calculator
What is left after fees.
From how many shares is the fee 1 % or less of the order? And at what price does a scenario of buying and selling break even?
How Stonka calculates
Minimum shares: The fee divided by 1 % gives the smallest order. With a 1 € fee and 1 % that is 100 €. Divide by the share price, round up, and you have the number of shares.
Break-even: Order value plus both fees, divided by the number of shares. At this price, buying and then selling comes out at zero.
Result: Shares times scenario price, minus the sell fee, the order value and the buy fee. The return is based on the money you put in: order value plus buy fee.
The stock signals are new every Saturday, also as an RSS feed. Every card there has a button that takes its levels into the calculator.
Questions
Why does the calculator use 1 % as the limit?
It is a rule of thumb. If buying costs 1 % and selling costs another 1 %, the price has to rise about 2 % before the fees are paid back. With small orders, this can quickly become 5 or 10 %.
What is the break-even price?
The price at which a sale pays back both fees. Below it the scenario loses money, even if the share went up a little.
Are taxes included?
No. Taxes depend on your country, your allowance and your other gains and losses, so the calculator leaves them out.
Which currency does it use?
Any currency works, as long as price and fees are in the same one.
Does Stonka get the current price for me?
No. The calculator works without outside price data, which keeps it fast.
Why are there two scenario fields?
Both show the same thing: once as a price and once as a change from the share price. Type in one and the calculator fills in the other. They do not change the number of shares; they only show what would be left after fees in the scenario.
Why do the arrows jump by different amounts?
The arrows next to scenario price and stop price move in steps that fit the price: 0.05 below 20, 0.25 below 200, 1 below 1,000 and 5 above. The scenario change moves in steps of 0.5 %. You can still type any value.
Do you save what I type?
Of what you type, only the fee is saved, in your browser, so it is still there on your next visit, also when you come here from the signals. Everything is calculated on your device, nothing goes to a server. An empty fee field removes the saved fee, and so does deleting the site data. All other values are only in the address bar, so “Copy link” can share them. Besides the fee, the browser only keeps whether you chose light or dark mode.
